Trying Something New....

In keeping with my goal to at least try one new thing each day... today was ... drum roll please.... listening to a writer at the local library! I have become a member at the Stanton Library that is literally around the corner from where I live and decided to attend Tony Buckley's reading of Behind a velvet light trap: a history of Australian cinema. Before you start feeling sorry for me you should know that he is one of the leading figures in the Australian film industry. I mean he's kind of a big deal!

It rained today which made this planned event on my schedule perfect. You all know I hate rain and today has been the first bad day that I've seen. So I decided to stay at the library a bit longer and write to you from here instead of my little apartment. By the way, I will post pictures of my place later on.

Earlier today I did a really short interview with Habitat for Humanity to volunteer with them. After we got to talking she said, "Well this interview is really just to make sure that English is your first language and that you are competent. Both of which you are". She offered me the position to work Monday's and Friday's from 9-5 which is great but she also described the work as boring and very quiet. I mean I am here to serve but I'm just not sure I want to sit all day long and do nothing! She said that even the paid staff don't usually come in on those days.. they work from home! So, I told her I was very thankful for the opportunity and just want to make sure that this is the right area for me before making my decision. I will get back to her next week and see.

My roommate is gone until Sunday which is a bummer because that makes it a little quieter around the apartment. She is really sweet and has been wonderful in helping me get used to the city. The prayer for today is to have continued peace that I am where God wants me to be. I have found myself getting caught up in anxious moments that really are not necessary. God is with me and lets be honest, I'm in Sydney:)

Love you all and this weekend I'm looking to do more outings and excursions. That means more pictures:)
