Part 1: Great Barrier Reef with Andy

Andy and I just got back from spending 3 days, 2 nights on a live aboard in Cairns. We had the opportunity to do 11 dives including 2 night dives and had such an amazing time. Diving the Great Barrier Reef is something I will never forget. The colors, coral, fish, water, everything was just overwhelming and beautiful. Andy and I did not stop moving the entire time he was here. I have been getting some hate mail (coughmomcough) for my lack of updates on the blog and thought I would just put tons of pictures on from diving and slowly write about the other things we did. Since I don't have many of the other pictures I will wait to get them from Andy but these were just a few of the fun ones we have from diving.
Who says the safety stop can't be fun?! Andy and I hanging on the deco bar.

We had to represent. If you have been living under a rock, we beat Michigan!

Getting ready for the night dives and jumping in off the back of the boat. This did take some time to get used to but one of my favorite dives was the second night dive. It is eerie but you can see some great stuff!

Team America plus the South African.

This is taken by my buddy who was chasing the shark to get the perfect picture. I had so much fun watching her chase after turtles, sharks and fish to get a picture as they swam away. We saw a lot of sharks and I found myself actually looking forward to finding them and not scared.

This dive was called Disneyland and there was no way to not get lost. If you click on this picture and take a look at it, its hilarious. Our dive instructor would brief us before each dive and on this one he had a little fun. Don't worry we got a chance to get lost again later that day during the night dive.

My hands in the stinger suit. I loved keeping them on:)

How can you not love a turtle!

Lisa, my buddy, and I let the current take us out just a little too far. We decided to let the boat drag us back in instead of trying to swim the distance. However, I didn't know that he would just make us grab the rope on the end of the raft and pull us in. I thought I was going to break my hand the pressure hurt so bad and when my hand wasn't tightly wrapped around the rope, I was falling off. It took forever to get back to the boat and when we did, I was pretty beat up. Needless to say, we watched the current pretty closely after this.

Stay tuned. More to come I promise!

  1. Even if I had the guts to dive like that, I would be soooooooo creeped out by doing it at night! Actually, I don't think I could do it. But I enjoyed looking at your pictures, ha! :) Glad you had a good time with your brother ... we can't wait to see ya back in the States. :)
